Blink and Miss

trillion-cells

I am a trillion entwining cells
Mirroring a billion stars at night
A seething mass of atoms
Playing darkness against light

I’m as fragile as bone china
And as solid as the earth
The brittle chill of winter
The warmness of a hearth

Boundless and finite
I’m simple yet complex
Right now and all eternity
All love and death and sex

Blink and you will miss me
In the whole great scheme of things
Here for a fragile moment
Pulling reality’s karmic strings

I’m vulnerable and precious
Yet despite life’s trials I thrive
Resilient, strong, enduring
Remaining expansively alive!
